The mission of Holy Spirit School is to serve God by providing a challenging academic education within the Catholic Tradition.
Hi, I am Denise Umlauft. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Education from Marian University. My education was focused on the Early Childhood and Elementary Education area. I have also attended graduate classes in Reading, Math and Curriculum Design at Viterbo University. I have been trained to be a mentor to newly licensed teachers. I am also trained in the accreditation process of our Diocesan schools. I currently hold a license in Elementary Education and History.
I began my teaching career in 1990, and I have taught in several early childhood environments. This includes being a Pre4 teacher along with being a Director of a Childcare Center. I was hired by Holy Angels School in 1998 as a 1st Grade teacher. After five years of teaching 1st Grade, I was asked to “loop” with my class to 2nd Grade. I was able to teach 2nd grade for six years when I was asked to move to Kindergarten. I enjoyed my five years of teaching Kindergarten. In 2014, I was asked once again to return to 2nd grade. I currently am enjoying the ride of sacramental instruction and learning in the 2nd-grade classroom.
I have lived in the Sherwood area all my life. I have attended both St. John-Sacred Heart in Sherwood and Xavier High School in Appleton. I enjoy many crafts. Some of them include scrapbooking, card making, furniture refinishing and cross-stitching. I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews. In the summer, you can find me reading books and also on the hunt for my next trip to discover and experience something in our country's history. One of my goals is to visit as many presidential libraries and museums as possible. So far I have visited the Museum of Abraham Lincoln, Herbert Hoover, Henry Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. I hope to plan a visit to the Ford Library soon.
