The mission of Holy Spirit School is to serve God by providing a challenging academic education within the Catholic Tradition.
Our Kindergarten classroom uses a hands on and multisensory approach that focuses on each learner as an individual.
Our program also fosters growth in: social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
Math- Our Math program teaches Kindergarten students to become problem solvers, and apply Math to real life situations. Students learn to make sense of mathematics as they build a foundation for representing mathematics in more complex and formal ways.
Religion- Our Religion program teaches students to learn, celebrate, share, and live our Catholic faith. Concepts covered in Kindergarten are: God Gives us many gifts, God is our creator, Jesus shows us God’s love, and Jesus wants us to share God’s love. Kindergarten students attend weekly mass and have the
opportunity to lead the end of the year mass.
Science- Our Science program is hands on and highly engaging for our little learners. Our Kindergarten Science curriculum focuses on: Pushes & Pulls, Matter, Sunlight, Needs of living things, Environments, and Earths Weather. Each unit teaches students to problem solve and engage in practices to design,
build, and apply core ideas to new situations.
Social Studies- Our Social studies program focuses on developing a stronger understanding of the world we live in today. Our Kindergarten Social Studies curriculum focuses on: learning and working together, national and state symbols, work now and long ago, geography of the neighborhood, time and
chronology, and learning about the past.
Literacy- Our Literacy program is designed for growth in children’s phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing through a multimodal approach. Kindergarten students learn to become independent readers and writers by exploring the foundational skills through Reading
and Writing workshop.
