The mission of Holy Spirit School is to serve God by providing a challenging academic education within the Catholic Tradition.
Math – Students will focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of decimals and fractions. Place value, geometry, and measurement are all skills that compliment our focus.
Language Arts – Students will be able to combine paragraphs and build a theme paper into a cohesive product utilizing the writing process. Students will also practice using new vocabulary, spelling words correctly, and continue practicing parts of speech and other grammatical conventions.
Reading– Students will be given the opportunity to read many different genres of stories as we practice reading aloud, to ourselves, and with a small group. Students will regularly practice reading and listening comprehension skills to help build overall understanding. Novel studies are utilized to practice strategies as well.
Science – Students will learn about living processes including ecosystems and human systems, matter and energy, and the solar system. Students will also begin to work on note taking skills.
Social Studies – Students will learn about United States history starting with the earliest settlers in America and those who explored America. We will also learn region of the United States, state capitals, and geographical landforms.
Religion – Students take an indepth look at each of the seven sacraments along with four special chapters devoted to the special seasons of the church year: Advent, Christmas, Lent, and the Triduum. We will also continue to become familiar with the Bible.
