Q. My child has a cough or two of the symptoms on part 2 of the Health Screening Checklist 2021-22. What should I do?
A. Contact your medical provider and have your child tested for COVID-19. Guidelines for Prevention, Investigation, and Control of COVID-19 Outbreaks in K-12 Schools in Wisconsin - August 2021
As of right now, if a family/household member has symptoms and is being tested for COVID, siblings will be allowed to come to school while we await test results.
If you can isolate the child with symptoms from your other children, please do so. Close Contacts are determined by the last contacted day of a COVID-19 positive person. The quicker you quarantine from a potential positive case, the quicker your students could return to school.
If the child with symptoms of COVID-19 test results are negative, and there is NOT a known close contact to a COVID-19 positive case and the individual is fever free is fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, the child and their siblings may return to school.
Now, some students may have to miss extended periods of time throughout the school year because of this "best practice." We have mounted in all the K-grade 8 classrooms a camera that displays only the front of the whiteboard of the classroom. Depending on the grade level, students will have the opportunity to join virtually and watch a/some lesson(s) for the day from home. This virtual option is meant for students who are quarantining, isolating, or waiting test results. Please be patient with the teachers as it may take a day for the teachers to gather materials and send you the virtual invite for google meet for virtual learning.
